Ugly Alert - Ep89 Recap

Joon Soo’s ‘friendly-environmental-material’ idea wins the applause from the others and Do Hee stands up to announce something (note: not entirely 100% sure of translation)
"Using environmental materials as ‘raw material’, BY plans to sign an ‘exclusive’ contract as a starting point. We’re planning to open 2 ‘professional’ lines for our product, please consider this."
(IOW: I think want to open 2 special production lines especially for development of their new material)
Creepy Lawyer irefully slams his file onto the floor and he’s so.pissed.off. MUAHAHAHAHA. Minion A comes in all scared saying that he’s suffering great losses now. How about they sell the material to other companies (at a lower price)…

He asks her if she’s stupid/out of her mind (that would totally expose him ¬‿¬).And he says if she’s really worried for him, she should find a way to separate In Joo and Joon Soo.
Switch to Joon Soo and Nasajang-nim…with the most solemn faces EVER(seriously, I just wanna go “SMILE!!!” to them =.=).
Nasajang-nim says Joon Soo is cleared of suspicion for sure this time and although their relationship is complicated (oh, not yet sajang-nim…it’s gonna get waaay more complicated later on =.=”), he has already confirmed that Joon Soo is sincerely working for the company.
"From now on I will trust you, like I trust the people of BY." Nasajang-nim TT_TT!!!
Joo Young asks Do Hee where she found such a ‘gem’ like Joon Soo and Do Hee jokes it’s because she shoots lasers out of her eyes xD Hehe.
Joo Young then tells Do Hee she can be honest with Harabeoji and her father now that they both seem to be satisfied with him. However, Do Hee just smiles and doesn’t say anything…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harabeoji and Do Hee’s father have a heartfelt talk together and it’s here where we learn that Do Hee’s father’s original dream was to become…a math teacher. He says although he hasn’t fully given up on his dream, he wants to do what he said before. And that is to go out and study after 3 years.
Harabeoji says he always felt bad for ‘forcing’ him into BY even though he didn’t want to.
" I never knew I would stay that long." He laughs. "It was because I had high hopes for Joo Young’s father. If he didn’t get suppressed by In Sook like that, he would’ve been able to show his ability. He would’ve been at my position a long time ago."
"I will fufill my promise to let you go study after 3 years. But before then, Gong Joon Soo, who displayed his ability this time…help train him. In times where everything is changing and unexpected, 3 years is a long time. In these 3 years, train him well. You know well that the person who will succeed me will have a very lonely path to walk on. Your job is to place reliable people by her side. You understand this, right?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here, the little scared child pleads to his father saying he will make up for the losses this time, just give him more time. He needs his ‘financial’ support and his father is threatening to cut that.
" I won’t let you down again, please think again father!"
I don’t know if it was on purpose or not, but that little unkept strand of hair totally showed how scared and anxious creepy lawyer was. A different side of him…showing him falling only deeper and deeper into that hole.
Fall deeper please. I don’t care if you can’t come back out again =.= (best if you stay in there forever, hmph)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hyun Suk and Joo Young’s father are having some ‘bonding’ time together. Hyun Suk’s alcohol tolerance is clearly…not high but he’s holding it in. Joo Young’s father tells him although Joo Young seems childish and foolish at times, she has a good trait. As long as she likes something, she will keep with it till the end. He tells him the story of how she bought a chick to raise once, but it died early on. They buried it at their old house and her mother offered to buy her other pets but she refused. When they moved houses, she ran away to the old house crying because she wanted to stay with the chick (aw, that’s kinda cute).
After they finish drinking, Hyun Suk calls him ‘father’ (abeonim) and he is very happy at that, hugging Hyun Suk and patting his back in delight (Hyun Suk on the other hand is going to barf any second!xD)
Someone calls Joon Soo and the others to pick up a drunk Hyun Suk and they come find him where he…barfs it all out on Joo Young. Ughhhhhh….
Joon Soo brings him back home to a surprised Nari and Jin Joo who thought he had better tolerance than this…
Joon Soo tells them he was drinking with Joo Young’s father and Nari says,
"By the looks of it, it seems he will marry first. That can’t be! We must go in order!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back home, all showered, Joo Young asks Do Hee how Joon Soo’s alcohol tolerance is. She says she’s not sure…but he probably can’t get past 3 bottles of wine. Joo Young says it’s lucky because Do Hee’s father is not a good drinker as well.
Don’t they say fathers don’t want to marry off their daughters to a man that has bad alcohol tolerance? So if you have time, train him to drink more.”
Joo Young runs out to shower again and Do Hee phones Joon Soo saying she was worried he’d be ‘jealous’ of Hyun Suk. ( I love Joon Soo’s face when he picks up the phone. It’s just smiles all the way :) )
"His future father-in-law is satisfied with him, if I was jealous of him, I wouldn’t be a good brother. I feel very satisfied."
Nari pops her head in and they end their conversation. She tells him she’s a bit worried about how persistent Chul Soo is so it’d be better if Joon Soo talked to him…because he’d listen to him for sure…
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chul Soo apologizes to Joon Soo and asks if he knows Jin Joo helped his mother pay back her debt. He says he didn’t know, but shouldn’t it be this way? They are family.
Chul Soo says he doesn’t know if a similar situation will happen again. He can’t do this to Joon Soo who loves his family so much…and also went abroad for 10 years to earn money for them…
Joon Soo sighs and tells him "I should tell you…how Jin Joo suffered because of me.
And…he tells his story.
"I’m sorry…Jin Joo probably kept it a secret for me.”
Chul Soo finds it hard to believe…like everyone else, and asks what exactly happened. Joon Soo simply says it’s a painful past, it is enough that he just knows it happened.
Joon Soo tells him that Jin Joo had to take on the responsibility of taking care of Hyun Suk and Nari at such a young age…it must’ve been tough.
"Because of you, Jin Joo is living happily now. I was always thankful towards you…so please think about changing your decision.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And a night of soju has proved to be a symbolic and developing point in Joon Soo and his ‘future’ father in law’s (aka Nasajangnim) relationship.
The two solemn people return to their ‘familiar’ soju stand at night and Nasajangnim prepares to pour the drink for Joon Soo, but because that is defying the ‘respect’ system he refuses. He pours anyway and Joon Soo is quick to reach for the bottle to help him pour…but he doesn’t allow him. >.<
"We’ve had bad memories here, haven’t we? I’m meeting you today… to erase those bad memories."
After he has established his prologue, he carries out what Harabeoji told him to do.
"The reason why I want to erase those memories…is because I’m BY’s sajangnim (director). I hope you will help Do Hee, who will succeed BY, in the future. From now on, I will be in charge of training you to become her helper. Judging from the results I’ve seen, I’m sure you won’t let me down."
Joon Soo listens with a stern expression…because he realizes that he has gained Do Hee’s father’s approval…but he feels he can’t because he’s hiding the fact that he loves his daughter and they haven’t got passed that obstacle yet (of telling him).
This time, Joon Soo insists to help him pour the drink and he allows him. *muffledcries* (does anyone know how much of a breaking moment this is!?!?) It’s like future-father-son-in-law time, and Do Hee’s father helps him pour his drink as well.
╥﹏╥ oh the emotions….
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s supposed to be a happy moment when you gain approval from your supposed ‘father-in-law’, but not for Joon Soo. Do Hee finds Joon Soo deep in thought and he tells her he saw her father.
And can we step back to admire the effort of the stylist (or whoever picks their outfits), because they’re so beautiful with their matching red-wine and black pieces ≧∇≦.
"We went to the road-side stall we went last time…and he helped me pour a drink." Joon Soo reminisces with a small smile.
Do Hee is shocked, and Joon Soo tells her that her father will train him to become her helper, so he will be responsible of a lot of important things from now on. That’s why, they went to ‘erase’ the bad memories.
Do Hee reaches out her hand and puts it on top of his.
"You must feel painful, worrying that I’ll hurt the elders who trust in me so much. That’s right…it’s not too bad now. We can see each other at work everyday, and gain their approval like this…it’s quite peaceful. But Na Do Hee is especially good at breaking that ‘peace.’ We know that we can’t go on like that.
I know this is my ambition. I want to tell the whole world you are my husband. But you should also have ambition as well…Joon Soo.”
He takes her into a hug and tells her,
"I hope you won’t cry when you think back to today’s peacefulness."
